I originally created this for our writers at Word Branch Publishing, but I thought I would share.
  1. How to Create a Facebook page (different than your personal timeline).
  2. I’ve recommended HootSuite for social media management in the past, but it has a steep learning curve. They have come up with a Chrome extension that greatly simplifies posting to multiple social media sources. Click here.
  3. You may have noticed on our new checkout system, there are buttons to repost on social media—just click to post. Also, don’t forget to encourage people to click on your rating stars. Click here to see an example.
  4. If you have a blog, consider guest blogging. You can either swap blogs with someone you know, solicit well-known bloggers, or try MyBlogGuest.
  5. You may have seen the viral posts on Facebook of people holding signs that say something like: “Let’s see if I can get one million likes for my new book.” I haven’t tried this, but the numbers can be staggering. If you want to try it out, let me know, and I’ll promote it for you.
  6. One way of getting the word out is through affiliates—an unofficial ‘you scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours’ promotion. This is agreeing to post a link on your webpage for someone else’s to increase traffic. There are a lot of programs out there that will charge you for giving you a list of possible affiliates, but I’m not convinced this is money well spent. Try it out with people you know first, and if you see some movement in traffic, it may be worth it to invest in more.
